Serving Palo Alto · private pay telehealth across California
Private Pay Therapy for Palo Alto, by Secure Video
I am Laurie Moore, LMFT, PhD, licensed in California and based in Santa Cruz. I work with founders, executives, physicians, academics and their families in Palo Alto by secure video. My practice is private pay only, so nothing goes through an employer plan and no diagnosis goes on an insurance record.
Telehealth only, by secure video or audio, for people physically located in California. Laurie, LMFT.

Where the pace is fast and the stakes are visible
Palo Alto runs on ambition, and much of it is admirable. The cost tends to show up quietly: sleep that never quite recovers, a relationship that gets what is left, a sense that the next milestone will finally be enough.
People from Palo Alto often bring burnout, high-performance strategy that has tipped into strain, anxiety, a hard exit or setback, or grief inside a successful life. Private pay and video mean your employer, your board and your insurer are not part of the picture.
You can solve hard problems all day and still not know what to do with how you feel at night.
Who I tend to see from Palo Alto
Founders and executives
Confidential therapy for CEOs and executives who carry a company and have nowhere to set it down.
Physicians and academics
People who look after others professionally and rarely get looked after themselves.
Couples with two big careers
Two demanding jobs and one shared life. We work on how you meet each other.
Parents under pressure
Achievement culture lands on families too. We look at what you want home to feel like.
How working together actually goes
We start with a free 20-minute consult by phone, text or video. You tell me what is happening; I tell you honestly whether I am a good fit. There is no obligation after that call.
If we continue, individual sessions are $250 for 50 minutes and couples sessions are $325, private pay. I do not bill insurance, so no diagnosis goes on an insurance record. I am EMDR certified and a certified hypnotherapist, and I draw on Internal Family Systems, AEDP and somatic work depending on what fits you. I do not treat bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, and I would refer you to a clinician whose practice is built for that.
Everything is remote. I have no office in Palo Alto, and every session is by secure video or audio while you are in California.

Questions from Palo Alto
- Do you take insurance?
- No. My practice is private pay only. Private pay means your care stays private. No insurance company reviews your sessions, and no diagnosis goes on an insurance record. Superbills are available on request if you choose to submit to your own plan.
- Will my employer know?
- Not from me. Because I am private pay, nothing goes through your employer's insurance or an employee assistance program. I hold our work with strict confidentiality, within the legal limits I explain at the start.
- Can sessions fit around a startup schedule?
- Weekday sessions run from 12:00pm to 7:30pm and Saturday from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. A regular, protected time helps most. I ask for 72 hours' notice to reschedule without paying in full.
