Serving Carmel-by-the-Sea · private pay telehealth across California
Private Pay Therapy for Carmel-by-the-Sea, by Secure Video
I am Laurie Moore, LMFT, PhD, licensed in California and based in Santa Cruz, up the coast from you. I work with people in Carmel-by-the-Sea by secure video, from home or a second residence anywhere in California. My practice is private pay only, so your care stays off insurance records.
Telehealth only, by secure video or audio, for people physically located in California. Laurie, LMFT.

Privacy in a village where people notice
Carmel-by-the-Sea is small, and people notice who comes and goes. For residents and part-time residents alike, seeing a local therapist can feel more exposed than it should. Video removes that: no office, no parking, no chance meeting on Ocean Avenue on the way out.
People from Carmel often bring grief, the transitions of later life, a marriage that needs attention after a long career, or the strain of a public role elsewhere. Some live here part of the year; as long as you are in California for the session, we can meet.
In a village this size, the most private room may be the one you are already in.
Who I tend to see from Carmel-by-the-Sea
Part-time residents
Splitting time between homes. Sessions continue by video wherever you are in California.
People with public lives
Recognizable at work or in the community. Discretion is built into how I practice.
Couples in a new chapter
Retirement, a move or children grown. Couples sessions are $325, private pay.
People who are grieving
Death losses and the losses no one holds a service for. Grief is the center of my practice.
How working together actually goes
We start with a free 20-minute consult by phone, text or video. You tell me what is happening; I tell you honestly whether I am a good fit. There is no obligation after that call.
If we continue, individual sessions are $250 for 50 minutes and couples sessions are $325, private pay. I do not bill insurance, so no diagnosis goes on an insurance record. I am EMDR certified and a certified hypnotherapist, and I draw on Internal Family Systems, AEDP and somatic work depending on what fits you. I do not treat bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, and I would refer you to a clinician whose practice is built for that.
Everything is remote. I have no office in Carmel-by-the-Sea or on the Monterey Peninsula, and every session is by secure video or audio while you are in California.

Questions from Carmel-by-the-Sea
- Do you take insurance?
- No. My practice is private pay only. Private pay means your care stays private. No insurance company reviews your sessions, and no diagnosis goes on an insurance record. Superbills are available on request if you choose to submit to your own plan.
- I split my time between Carmel and another home. Can we still meet?
- Yes, as long as you are physically in California during the session, because my license is a California license. If you are out of state for a stretch, we pause and pick up again when you are back.
- Is video really private enough?
- The platform is secure and I am in a private room. On your side we plan it together: a room with a door, headphones, and a device that is yours. If video is not private enough one week, we can use audio.
