Accessibility
Everyone should be able to read this site and reach me through it.
The Intent
I want this website to be usable whether you are reading it with a screen reader, moving through it with a keyboard, magnifying the text several times over, or turning off animation because motion makes you unwell. Finding a therapist is hard enough without a website getting in the way.
What Is Built In
- Semantic headings and page landmarks, so a screen reader can move through a page by structure rather than guesswork.
- Navigation that works from the keyboard alone, with a visible gold focus outline so you can always see where you are.
- Color contrast tested against the WCAG AA thresholds for text and headings.
- Text that reflows and scales when you zoom or enlarge type, without content being cut off.
- Alt text written for images that carry meaning.
- Motion that respects your system reduced-motion setting; with it on, content appears without animation, and the page reads fine with JavaScript unavailable.
The Standard I Aim At
The target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA. I hold that as a working standard rather than a claim of perfection. This is a solo practice and a small site, and accessibility here is an ongoing effort: when something is found to fall short, it gets fixed.
If Something Blocks You
Please tell me. Text or call (831) 477-7007, or email lauriechristysessions@gmail.com, and describe what happened and what you were using. That kind of message is genuinely useful and I am glad to get it.
If any part of this site will not work for you, I will give you the same information another way — read to you over the phone, sent as plain text, or talked through directly. Nothing on this site is information you have to fight a web page to get.
Questions about this page
You are welcome to ask. Text or call (831) 477-7007, or email lauriechristysessions@gmail.com. Please keep health details out of text and email, and we can talk them through in session instead.
